The convenience of a home vegetable garden is nice, not only because you don't have to go and purchase produce, but because you can grow what you will eat the most of and you can control the elements that go into your garden.

But with every garden comes a great deal of work, and a vegetable garden is no different. Vegetable gardens may even require more attentiveness as these plants will not just be looked at like a flower, but they will actually be consumed. It is important to conduct research before beginning your garden on the vegetables you plan to plant, such as the amount of sunlight and water they need and how long they take to mature.

After conducting this research and planning your garden by diagramming it, you may be eager to start digging, but it is important to have the correct gardening tools before beginning this task. With these gardening tools and a few others combined with dedication and positive environmental factors, such as adequate sunlight, a beautiful vegetable garden will result.

Because you will be eating the product of this garden it is important to maintain your garden daily and ensure that you are growing the best product for you and your family. Gardening Tools question by Tink: What is the best tool to sharpen the blade on by-pass hand pruners?
I bought a pair I love at the dollar store of all places, but after a few seasons they are getting a little dull and I've never sharpened garden tools.

I've looked at a few instructions on-line, and I can handle the taking them apart and cleaning...but I can't figure out what tool is actually best for sharpening the blade itself, and all the instructions must be written by people who assume I would know that...is it a stone, a drill attachment, what?

Sharpening tools is an art but a satisfying one to master. Better to learn on your dollar store delight than a $ 90 Felco.
I sharpen most of my knives, pruners and other handtools with one of these.
