My mom misses her garden very badly because we moved to a two-flat house apartment that has no backyard. For this mother's day/her birthday I wanted to turn our back porch into a little greenhouse for her, even if its just a couple window boxes and some hanging plants along the window tops. I do not have a lot of money or building know how, but if their are instructions I am great!

Back porch:
-has two love seat couches
-a large desk
-a couple boxes
- a small rectangular wood coffee table
- 8, in wall shelves on one wall
-two walls are all windows, 6 in total with no out side ledges
-it changes with the weather, its really cold when its cold and really hot in summer
-it has carpet
-its about 10'x11'

Can anyone please tell me how to do this and how much it should cost? I'm hoping under a $ 100, but cheapest would be the best. Any ideas, advice, or suggestions could help.

The nice part is that you can start cheap and keep adding .
For winter wrap the container with a section of rope light and cover with a large clear plastic bag.
I have started tomatoes this way. I reused a light plastic garment bag from a clothes cleaner by draping it over the tomato cage. Folding over the top to seal in the warmth like a mini green house. I placed some Christmas lights inside. Whenever the temps are going to drop low turn the lights on overnight. This keeps the plants warm and most people find the lights pleasing.

Last year I harvested my first tomato in April and had enough to start giving them away by May.
This year I already have one that is starting to bloom.
